Manage Images with BakeMyWeb

Overview

An old adage goes...

A picture is worth a thousand words!

The problem, however, is keeping track of the images. You must have noticed that the images you download or copy from well-known sources usually require attribution. Apart from that, most images need resizing to fit your needs. It is a pretty mundane activity and consumes a considerable amount of time.

BakeMyWeb is here to help!

Create Folders

Every Project in BakeMyWeb allows you to manage its own set of images. To make things even better, you have a choice of creating folders. Create as many folders as you need and navigate to the folder by double-clicking it.

Add image(s)

Once you are inside a folder, you can use the Add option to select an image from multiple sources:

  • Giphy
  • Pixabay
  • Pexels
  • Unsplash

Use the Search box to search images from various sources, select the ones you like, and click add. The selected images will be copied to your project with their attribution information. A 200x200px variant will be created automatically for each image you add.

Upload image(s)

Click on the upload icon and start uploading. You can add image metadata after you have uploaded it.

Change image view

The image view could be changed to Extra Large, Large, Medium, Small, Extra Small, and Tiny. You can also sort the images by Name, Type and Date Added.

Start a slide show

You can also view a slide show of images in a particular folder. Click on any image and click the Slide Show button. The slide show will start from the selected image. If no photo is selected, it will start from the first one.

You can select one or multiple images and download them to your computer. You may want to do it if you have to annotate the images or apply any interesting filter, etc. Soon, BakeMyWeb will allow you to add annotations and filters right from the interface.

Rename image(s)

You can select one or multiple images at once and rename them all! It is handy, especially if you have to add suffix, prefix, or replace text, like Kitty 1, Kitty 2, Kitty 3, etc.

Move image(s)

Create a folder structure the way you like. After that, select one or multiple images and click on the Move button in the information panel to move it to the desired folder.

Create an image variant

We create a 200x200 px version of every image that is added, and use it as a thumbnail for your webpage and email performance. You can add more variations of the same image without downloading and resizing them manually. Selecting an image will show an information panel to the right. Find the section for Other Sizes. Click on the Add New link and provide the Width or Height. If the Aspect Ratio is locked, and you provide Width, we will automatically fill in the Height for you such that it doesn't skew or stretch your image. If you don't want this behavior and would like to provide both Height & Width, turn off the Aspect Ratio and add multiple variations of the selected image. Click Save Size to create all variations right away. You can delete a variation later if required. Note that 200x200 variation cannot be deleted.

Add Tags

Adding a tag to an image makes it easy to find later. You can add multiple tags for the selected image(s). To find the images, you can use the search bar.

Manage image attribution

Every image that is added from a source automatically has a corresponding attribution filled in. You can update the attribution text for a selected image based on your requirements.

Recycle Bin

Every Project has a dedicated recycle bin. When you delete an image, it goes to the Recycle Bin. The images in your Recycle Bin can be restored to the location from where they got deleted. Note that images in the Recycle Bin still count towards the space quota for your account. You can navigate to the Recycle Bin to clear or restore them if you have deleted them by mistake. Once deleted from the recycle bin, there is no way to recover the images. Therefore, be very careful while emptying your recycle bin.

Clear Local Cache

We store some information offline for better performance. Sometimes, when the data goes out of sync, it may lead to unexpected behavior. In case you face anything inexplicable, clearing the local cache may help and fix the issue. There will be no data loss.
